On 11 February, the event “Disability and Work: the Possible Challenge”, organized by Azimut in collaboration with the Minister for Disabled People, took place in the Sala Polifunzionale della Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri in Rome. The meeting brought together institutions, companies and third sector organizations to discuss strategies and models of cooperation aimed at promoting the employment of people with disabilities.

The Minister for Disabled People, Alessandra Locatelli, stressed the importance of investing in the abilities of everyone: “Enhancing the potential of each person without dwelling on their limitations is the first step towards ensuring real opportunities for all. Italy is the only European country with a law on labour inclusion, but many companies have yet to develop strategies to fully exploit the value of each person”.

Andrea Bonsignori, president and founder of BreakCotto, said: “BreakCotto is honoured to participate in this initiative. We firmly believe that the union between multinationals and the third sector is not just an equity gesture, but a real possibility of ‘new thinking’ to include the qualities of all that have been ignored for years. A conference that can really be a change of perspective on an issue always left to nonprofit sector alone.”

Much remains to be done, but initiatives like this help promote a more inclusive working culture.
