Established over 10 years ago in Turin, BreakCotto is the fascinating social enterprise that brings together IVS Italia and the Chicco Cotto cooperative. The company deals with vending in offices, schools, hospitals, libraries and large companies, offering an employment opportunity to people with disabilities and autism.

BreakCotto’s commitment has led it to increasingly prestigious milestones, such as its recent participation in the UN Annual Conference in New York on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. To this series of valuable appointments is now added the presence in the international meeting of Ministers responsible for disability and inclusion for the G7, in Umbria, from 14 to 16 October 2024.

The BreakCotto boys are therefore in Assisi and Solfagnano, in the presence of delegations from Italy (with the Minister for Disabilities, Alessandra Locatelli), Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. They are also joined by a number of social enterprises, which are also entrusted with reception and hospitality services.

And it is precisely hospitality that BreakCotto takes care of at the Umbrian G7, with the preparation and service of breakfasts and coffee breaks. This occasion is a source of great excitement for the young people in the project and for the tutors, who are constantly looking for new experiences of growth and development of autonomy.

Because every day, BreakCotto’s more than 20 people prove that creating Diversamente Automatica catering is possible. This is also made clear by BreakCotto’s President, Don Andrea Bonsignori, when he describes the project as ‘a dream come true to give dignity to autistic people: because dignity is better than charity’. This is the spirit that fuels the determination and courage with which BreakCotto’s school-to-work alternation competes in the market of the great Italian break professionals.
