BreakCotto is the school-to-work project born from the collaboration between IVS Italia and Chicco Cotto. It has been working successfully for years to place people with disabilities and those in difficulty in the world of employment.
Its training programs identify and develop the skills of each participant, and then facilitate employment and integration into BreakCotto’s staff. Because the vision of the initiative is fascinating in its simplicity: to give these workers full dignity, in a concrete and equitable reality where they can get involved.
But what most testifies to the goodness of the project is the guarantee of an excellent, unique and sustainable service for self-service catering. Indeed, for a #DiverselyAutomatic catering.
That’s why the Minister for Disabilities – Alessandra Locatelli – also selected BreakCotto by Your Best Break among the excellences of social enterprises and cooperatives that today – June 12, 2024 – participated in the 17th Annual Conference of States Parties to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
In fact, the day’s program revolved around the event “Promoting and developing the talents and skills of people with disabilities through Italian cuisine,” sponsored by Italy. Speakers at the conference included the presidents of a number of Third Sector entities that run inclusive catering activities in Italy.
“Italy is showing great attention to the theme of enhancing the talents and skills of people with disabilities and this will be an opportunity to present to all countries a part of the extraordinary experiences that are growing in our country. This year’s conference takes on a particular relevance for me since Italy holds the G7 presidency and will host for the first time in history a G7 ministerial meeting on the theme of inclusion and disability,” Minister Locatelli stressed.
A delegation of more than twenty people therefore departed from Italy for New York, including Massimo Paravisi (CEO of IVS Group), Leonardo Marcellino (Managing Director and BreakCotto Commercial Management) and Andrea Bonsignori (BreakCotto President).
During the event, Bonsignori presented the project of this extraordinary social enterprise, pointing out, “I express our gratitude to the Minister for Disabilities, Alessandra Locatelli, for the opportunity to be able to participate, together with the other important delegations, in this event. We will try to bring to the UN’s attention not only the acclaimed prowess of all the associations, but we in particular-as BreakCotto-would like to tell about the challenge of uniting the world’s great holding companies and the added value of the dedication of people with disabilities and others. An economy that is more equitable and scalable by all is the true inclusive model. At the same time, I would like to thank the IVS Group, which has been involved in our project for years, and the Lavazza world for its constant support, including in the logistics of this New York adventure.” His speech was followed by lunch with the representatives of the states, at which the young people of BreakCotto took care of the coffee break provided by Lavazza.
A day of great excitement for our colleagues, in short. Because (as we mentioned) creating #DiverselyAutomatic catering is possible.
